About The Artist
Jimm Scannell is an award winning sculptor and painter who grew up in NY State in the beautiful Hudson Valley. He attended The Pennsylvania Academy of The Fine Arts in Philadelphia. One unique quality of this school is that they not only teach human anatomy, but they also teach animal anatomy bringing live animals into the classroom to pose. They also teach foundry classes giving students a chance to experience casting their own sculptures in bronze.
Since graduating in 1999 Jimm’s been involved in a number of gallery shows and has taught sculpture and painting. He’s designed and sculpted for companies that sell collectibles like The Franklin Mint and West Art. But his most notable accomplishments have been his commission work. Learning about bronze casting plus the knowledge gained from earlier pursuits of engineering and his experience in construction have all been valuable in his art career, especially in the production of sculpture commissions.
Today Jimm has a studio in Philadelphia. He’s incorporating new technology into his work such as CAD and digital sculpting. These tools allow greater flexibility in creating large scale sculptures. Pressing on, Jimm continues to grow as an artist.
